GRADUATION WEEK: GENERAL INFORMATION

Photos of Graduation Week: Good news!  We have secured a wonderful photographer, Matt Bennett, to capture images for the Color Run, Car Parade, and the Graduation Ceremony.  All photos will be accessible soon after graduation on Matt’s website: www.mrbco.com.

Name Tags: There are a lot of events the last week of school!  A google form will be sent out before the last week of school in order to gauge attendance and get a list of name tags to print in advance.  Please be on the lookout for that email.

Volunteer Opportunities:  We will need help with the color run, help with the car parade, and help getting students ready for the graduation ceremony.  Please click on the link to the sign-up genius and help out the 5th Grade Graduation Committee!

(Car Parade is NOT included on this sign up genius.  If you would like to help, please contact Shannon Werme directly at shannonwerme@gmail.com.)

GRADUATION WEEK: SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Monday, May 22 at 1:30PM– Color Run

An HCE tradition! All of the 5th graders will gather outside on the fields and be pelted with paint powder from their fellow HCE classmates! The fun will conclude with a party outside underneath the covered area.

Students will receive a commemorative T-shirt to wear and fun sunglasses to protect their eyes, but should wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty.

We will need parents to help prep for the run the Friday before and distribute paint the day of. See sign up genius for volunteer opportunities!

And parents are welcome to attend the color run and party after!

Tuesday, May 23 at 1:00 PM (NOTE TIME CHANGE!)– Car Parade and Pool Party

Parent permission will be required for this event, as each student is invited to leave school early and participate in the car parade (permission form linked here but it will also be sent home with the students).

The 5th graders will pile into decorated parent-driven cars and parade through the neighborhood! Parents, grandparents, friends, and community residents are encouraged to cheer on the graduates.

The students will be grouped by classrooms and each car will transport between 3-6 kids. Please no throwing of anything (candy, beads, etc.) to spectators! Bubbles are fine.

The parade will end at the Houston Racquet Club, where all of the students are invited to a fun pool party with a DJ and snacks! The party will take place at the pool and on the party pavilion. All other areas of the Houston Racquet Club (sport court, tennis courts, etc.) are not open to partygoers.

The party will end promptly at 3:30 PM. Please arrange for your child to be picked up at the pavilion near the pool.

Wednesday, May 24 at 9:30 AM – Talent Show
A fan favorite! In addition to the individual talent show skits, songs, and dances, the entire 5th grade will be invited to help close out their last Talent Show in style! The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade talent show will start at 9:30 AM. (Kinder, 1st, and 2nd will start at 8:30 AM.)

Thursday, May 25 at 8:30 AM – Graduation Ceremony
The week will culminate with the Graduation Ceremony, scheduled for 8:30 AM on Thursday. The students will gather early in the morning for a fun breakfast before they don their green graduation robes, and parents will be allowed to secure their seats when the school doors open at 8:00 AM before the students file into the auditorium. After the ceremony, parents will have a chance to take photos and congratulate the graduating class!
