2025-26 fundraising goals and why

How much money does the PTA need to raise?   $609,000 

The fundraising goal funds the budget items not covered by the State and will go towards next year’s school budget.

 Where Does all that money go?

SALARIES & SAFETY

• For the 2025-2026 school year, the PTA will pay for 7 salaries, including:
  • 1 part time and 1 full time math interventionist
  • 1 part time and 1 full time literacy interventionist
  • 1 full time enrichment specialist
  • 1 full time instruction specialist
  • 1 full time school counselor
• School traffic / safety officer expenses

CURRICULUM SUPPORT / ENRICHMENT & SPECIAL PROGRAMS

• Campus events/celebrations: Cougar Fall Festival, Class Parties, Lunch with Heroes / Veterans Day, etc.
• Teacher support: Curriculum Materials, Classroom Supplies, Teacher Appreciation Luncheons, Teacher Planning and Development, etc.
• HCE T-Shirts, Field trips, technology improvements, library expenses, supporting our Sister School, and many, MANY more!

 BUSINESS EXPENSES

• Fundraising expenses (Family/Corporate Sponsors, etc)
• Administrative, Taxes, Credit Card / Website Fees, State and National PTA Dues, Tax Preparation, etc. 

Why is fundraising THIS year so important? 

What happened last tear brought challenges (2024-2025)

• FY25 budget reductions: Spring Branch ISD approved a budget with a reduction of $35 million in general fund expenditures for the 2024-25 school year. This involved eliminating positions, closing schools, and reducing budgets across various areas.
• Previous reductions: These cuts followed earlier reductions of $24 million related to ESSER funds and the elimination of ESSER-funded positions, as well as cuts to central office department budgets.
• Reasons for cuts: The cuts were attributed to the Texas Legislature's lack of action on public education funding and SBISD's recapture status, which required the district to send $80 million to the state. 
• Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Blaine described this as the most challenging year in her tenure with the district. 
• Impact to HCE: Librarian and Counselor positions and district level support for Instructional Specialists were cut from all SBISD schools

 Where are we this year? (2025-2026)

• FY26 budget reductions: Still in place
• Changes: The 2025-26 Compensation Plan includes a 4% raise for eligible employees and covers most health insurance premium increases. Raises are also aligned with the Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA) for teachers based on experience.
• Impact to HCE: The 89th Legislative Session is expected to address public education funding, although proposed increases may offer limited flexibility for districts like SBISD. We need your help more than ever to continue maintaining the same level of excellence for our students!
